DL Logistics, a first-hand agent for air freight to middle east. 90% of those with lower prices than us are traps.
At the beginning of August, my regular customer Herman came to me. He needed air freight to UAE for car brake parts, 9cbm / 4000kg. The car assembly plant over there was in a hurry. After calculating his volume, I gave him a price for direct flight from Shenzhen to UAE. But Herman was different this time – he pushed harder than usual for a discount. What was going on?
I got it. He must have been shopping around online and found a bunch of freight forwarders. There must be one village forwarder with a super low price and a smooth tongue. Even a sly guy like Herman couldn't resist that salesman's talk. I was about to explain, but then I thought – let him learn the hard way. A lesson from reality works best. And that would be the end of it.
Sure enough, Herman fell for it. Teaching someone through real experience works best.
That low-price forwarder first hooked him with a cheap quote, saying "everything ok" all the way. But when the flight day came, they told him his pallets couldn't get on the plane – they had to wait until someone else’s cargo could fill the space. So he waited, and waited. Several days passed. His customer was furious, calling a dozen times a day. Herman was so stressed that blisters grew on his lips. In the end he had to pay extra for an urgent shipment. That's the price you pay for a cheap deal.
Now he understands. DL buys pallet space from two major airlines for the whole year. We have 20 of our own pallet positions every week, guaranteed. That's ten times the capacity of a small forwarder. Who are we? We are one of the top five in China for air freight to middle east. We are a first-hand agent for air freight to middle east. Our price is reasonable and also low. If you see a price even lower than ours, 90% chance it's unreliable.

A village freight forwarder is just a shell company. They get a cheap deal, then sell it to a small forwarder with limited capacity – maybe only 2 or 3 pallets per week. When a first-hand agent gets a large shipment, they might bump the small forwarder's pallets. And to compete with first-hand agents, those small forwarders offer low prices – but if you're unlucky, your shipment's air freight timeline goes out the window.
The whole point of using air freight is to save time. If you have to wait around like that, you might as well just use ocean freight.
In mid-September, Herman came back. He needed air freight for 12cbm of auto parts to UAE. After last month's lesson, he realized that a first-hand agent has real influence with the airlines and can guarantee on-time delivery. He didn't say much – just told me to lock in a pallet position for the third day. That shipment went very smoothly. Herman felt relaxed, and the freight cost was even cheaper than when he got tricked.
