Shipping From China To UAE: More Info, Better Protection
Let me tell you something honest to bosses doing Middle East trade. On the shipping from china to uae route, when you talk to your freight forwarder, try to share as much information about your cargo and customer as possible. The more, the better. Some people think, “Oh, just tell them weight, volume, product name, and receiver – that’s enough, the rest doesn’t matter.” But from my years as a forwarder, when problems come up, the more info we have, the more we can do. Sometimes it can really save you.
I had a client, Zayed, who does Middle East auto parts. He imports a lot from China every year. Last year, he had a batch of vacuum pumps. He said it was very urgent. We rushed through customs, loading, flight takeoff, clearance – everything went smoothly. Then we moved it to our overseas warehouse. But guess what? When we tried to arrange delivery, we couldn’t reach him. Phone off, WhatsApp no reply.
So what to do? Just waiting was not an option. The cargo was in our warehouse. Storage fees weren’t the main issue since he’s a long‑time client. But Zayed had said the factory needed the parts urgently – we couldn’t delay. I guessed something urgent came up on his side. Anyway, the key was getting the goods to him on time. Luckily, he had left an emergency contact number for his partner, Karim. He said if we couldn’t reach him, we could contact Karim. I had asked for that number casually back then and noted it down. I never thought I’d actually use it. But it came in handy.
I finally got hold of Karim and delivered the goods. Later we learned that someone in Zayed’s family got sick, he went to the hospital and forgot about this. But he was glad we got the shipment to the factory on time. He was very happy.

Another time, he had 2,000 sets of ABS pumps to send to Dubai. The factory was in Zhejiang and they shipped directly to our Shenzhen warehouse. The goods were expensive. Worried about quantity and model mismatches that could lead to disputes later, Zayed used to fly to China to inspect the goods himself – at least 4 or 5 times a year.
This time, I heard he was booking a flight. I said, “Hold on, let the goods arrive at my place first. I’ll check them for you, and we keep a video call open so you can watch.” Since we’d worked together for years, he trusted me to some extent.
When the goods arrived, I took his order copy, opened box by box, matched models and quantities twice, while showing him on video. And then we found a problem. The factory listed 40 boxes, but we only had 38. I counted again, still 38. Zayed was shocked. He called the factory right away. Guess what? It wasn’t on purpose – the workers left two boxes in the delivery van’s back seat and forgot to unload them.
With me as his backup, Zayed got lazier. For less complicated shipments, he’d let me check models and quantities for him. He trusted me, and I saved him a lot of airfare money every year.
So, as a trading company boss, when you use shipping from china to uae, choosing a forwarder is basically about trust. If your forwarder only books space, does customs clearance, and gives a low price, that’s just basic. From our side, we want long‑term clients. But how do we make clients remember us? By doing things that aren’t in the contract but we can do anyway.
So as a foreign trade boss, when you pick a forwarder, it’s not just about shipping – remember, it’s about someone you can trust and who makes your life easier. That’s a good forwarder.
